Terminus: A Doctor Who Podcast
A queer woman's perspective on Doctor Who, both the classic and new series, as well as its various spin-offs and ephemera.

So, on this episode, I continue my journey through my 'Spark Joy' series with a little story that gives me so much happiness: 'K-9 and Company'!

Now this is basically a bit of a Halloween episode (albeit a day-ish late due to some unforeseen technical issues), as well as a bit of an early Christmas episode, so there's all sort of festivities within. Well, if you count me going on quite a bit about the goddess Hekate, witchcraft, retro swingers, my love of a silly robot dog, and squee about past companions returning – then, yes, definitely a big ole party of squeeful geekiness to behold! ('Have you met the French? My god, they know how to party.')

So, put on your party hats, get out your noise-makers, and maybe even don some long black witch-y robes, and enjoy the ride! I'm so glad to have you all aboard again on this Spooky Love Train! #choochoo

On this episode, I take a small little detour from my recent 'Spark Joy' series to share all of my squeeful adventures at DragonCon 2019 with you guys, including – spoilers! – meeting David Tennant, Freema Agyeman, and Catherine Tate, as well as several other things that happened at the convention. Heck, I even time-stamped them all for those of you wanting to skip to certain parts, as I can get a bit detailed. And loquacious.

I also take some time to finish up with answering my recent lengthy feedback from listener Vanessa (that I started on last episode). Now, admittedly I go on a bit of a ramble at times while doing so -- as I often do -- but it was still lots and lots of fun to do and I really hope you guys enjoy it, nonetheless. #chattycathy

So, yes, I hope you guys will all enjoy the ride! There's definitely lots of squee in store for you!

On this episode, I continue my happy foray into my new Falling-in-Love-with-Doctor-Who-Again series  -- again called "Spark Joy," because I'm a dork – with a very squeeful and, honestly, a little bit vulnerable review of my favorite Twelfth Doctor story, "Heaven Sent". And, yes, because of who I am as a person,  I do go on quite a bit about it, so you just might want to get comfortable. Maybe find a really comfy chair and perhaps a nice tasty snack to enjoy while listening. Or perhaps just a long trip in the car will suffice. You do you.

Oh, and, in addition to all of that loquacious squee for "Heaven Sent," there's also even more squee within my Happy Fandom Time segment with mentions of a new podcast guest spot, some new Doctor Who things I've bought recently that I loving, but especially lots of squee, in particular, in the case of some long and juicy listener feedback that I start to tackle (but couldn't finish answering this time round, sadly, because apparently I talk way too much. #homegirlyounevershutup).

So, hold onto your hats, everyone, and enjoy the ride! I'm so glad to have you all aboard again on this Love Train! #choochoo

On this episode, I start my foray into my new Falling-in-Love-with-Doctor-Who-Again series  -- called 'Spark Joy', because I'm a dork – with a squeeful review of my favorite new series story, "Amy's Choice".

Now, to be honest, I didn't really have a clue how truly controversial this episode was until I heard the new-ish Verity! Podcast episode chatting about it very recently. And unfortunately, I'd already recorded my own episode at that point when I did hear theirs (I was taking a break from editing it to check it out, in fact), so I couldn't/didn't really talk about or address their particular impressions here in mine – though I did make a comment or two on their blog post for the episode.

But anyway, because of that, obviously this episode is just my own personal feelings on the story, untainted by Other Fandom Feels and as different as they apparently might be for other people! And also in the spirit of my joy about the diversity of opinion in our fandom, I'll definitely plonk a link to the Verity! episode below in my show notes, if you're interested in hearing some contrasting opinions on things. #yayfandomdiversity

Anyway, aside from my massive squee about 'Amy's Choice', also included in this episode is some squee about conventions (both my recent visit to Wholanta 2019, as well as some exciting guests planned for DragonCon 2019), some squee about other podcasts (as I'm often wont to do), and some squee about listener feedback. And so yeah, this is overall a pretty squeeful episode!

So, hold onto your hats, everyone, and enjoy the ride! I'm so glad to have you all aboard this Love Train! #choochoo

First off, quick production note: For whatever reason, I kept calling Malorie Blackman “Marjorie Blackman” in my review. And I have no idea why. I might’ve just been nervous from not having recorded in so long. Or I might’ve been struggling with having less notes in front of me than I usually do. I’m not sure. Either way, I deeply apologize for getting her name wrong. How embarrassing!

Anyway, aside from all that, this is honestly a difficult episode for me to publish. As I stated in my ‘State of the Podcast’ blog post, I try my very best to keep things on my show (mostly) positive and try to look for the best in the show. But, at the end of the day, I also have to be honest about my reactions and so, after a lot of soul searching, I made this episode chatting about my feelings in regards to Series 11. And, yes, many of those feelings are negative. So, if that’s something you’re avoiding, being that my intention is to not kill people’s squee, this might possibly be an episode to skip. I do hope you give it a listen, though. I did my best to frame my criticisms as fairly as I could and also tried my best not to devolve into just mindless ranting.

Also, on a positive note, I discuss what is on the horizon for my show, with a series where I’m going to be rejuvenating the podcast by indulging in far more positive chats about my favorite show.

Anyway, again, I hope you will all join me as I talk about through some pretty hard feelings from this past season of Doctor Who -- along with some bonus Happy Fandom Time squee in there, to temper any angst, of course!

Glad to have you all aboard and do enjoy the ride (it’s going to be a bit of a bumpy one)!

As I've been getting some inquiries, I thought I'd post a State of the Podcast Update:

Confession Time: After a lot of introspection, I think I've finally figured out the Big Thing that's been stalling me in regards to my podcast recently. When listeners talk about my show, many times one of the biggest compliments I get is how positive I am about the source material I'm reviewing (often also mentioning a contrast to some other podcasts that 'just complain about the show the whole time'). And I honestly really like that about my show too, because, as it's pretty obvious to many people who know me, I really love Doctor Who and sharing that love with other people is really nice for me.

But therein lies the snag: I really want to continue to stay super-positive on my podcast, but I'm honestly finding it very difficult when I'm not actually feeling that way, you know? I mean, yes, I'm very behind on doing any reviews about S11, but do you know why that is? Because I mostly didn't like it. There I said it. Yes, I can find positive things to say about some bits of it of here and there, but overall it was mostly disappointing. And so in lieu of saying negative things the whole time about it on my show, I guess I just sort of shut down and didn't want to say anything at all.

The thing is with me, I can't be fake, even if I try. And I really don't want to lie about what I felt about the season or, perhaps, just stick with saying 'only positive things'. But I also really don't want to scare people off. I mean, it's not like it's been easy lately in fandom anyway, as it seems that when you have any issues with the season, a lot of people just immediately write you off as just hating a female Doctor, being misogynist, or racist, or [fill-in-the-blank-ism], and don't even take the time to listen to any valid criticisms you might have. That or they just call you an idiot for not liking it (which I keep hearing a lot, honestly). And that can be very alienating.

Don't get me wrong, I love Jodie Whittaker as an actress on the whole and I really, really looked forward to S11 with her (I even have an episode dedicated to my squee about it from back when she was cast). And I really (mostly) love the rest of the cast as well. My issues mostly do not lie with them, but instead how those characters were written and, hell, how most of the stories were written.

We have a saying in fandom about how sometimes things are just 'not my Doctor Who'. It doesn't mean that aspect of the show is inherently bad or whatever, just not really what you're personally looking for in the show. And as a very long-time watcher of both the Classic and 'New' series, I can tell you that the show goes in and out of those phases for me several times. And ultimately that's fine with me. Yes, it's sad because I always want to be in love with my show constantly, but I also understand that's just not the nature of the beast that is decades and decades of Doctor Who.

Anyway, all that to say: I think I'm just going to scrap my individual episode reviews of series 11 (even though I have a million notes for each episode!) and just work on some sort of overview episode instead. Admittedly, that's really scary for me and it's probably going to be hard for me to do, as I'm not super-keen on ranting or talking badly about my favorite show. But I also think that I should just bite the bullet and get my thoughts out there anyway, as ultimately that's what my podcast is about (and who knows, maybe there's someone else out there feeling alienated that might relate to what I have to say).

I mean, I don't think I'm going to actually rewatch any of the episodes, at least not any time soon, as honestly I really don't feel inclined to do so at all. And so my overview thoughts might all just be cobbled together from memory and said notes. But I think that's what I need to do for now, so that I can finally try to move forward with my show and get out of this impasse, instead doing reviews on other stories that do make me joyful, and continue to hope that S12 is much, much better for me. I mean, at the end of the day, I really do miss making episodes, and connecting with other fans, and just really just want to get back on track as soon as I can.

Anyway, thanks so much for reading (and listening to my podcast!). It means the world to me.

Yes, this is likely not the podcast episode that you're looking for. Fear not, though, as I do plan to review the episodes of Series 11 with Jodie, it's just that I'd planned to release this right before the new series started airing, but life intervened. Still, despite the awkward timing, I worked hard on it, so I still wanted to go ahead get it out.

Now, the subject matter is admittedly a bit dated as the con I'm discussing happened a few months back, but I had hoped to use this as basically a practice episode to get back into the swing of things.

So, anyway, I hope you will all join me for some reminiscing about my time at this year's Wholanta convention, as well as some bonus Happy Fandom Time squee and a mini, non-spoiler-y chat about David Tennant's film, 'Bad Samaritan'.

Glad to have you all aboard and do enjoy the ride!

And here's a bonus episode for all of you -- all just a wee little diversion from my previously scheduled review episode (which I'm getting back to very soon!), full of my belated thoughts on Jodie Whittaker and her recent casting as the Thirteenth Doctor.

So, please join me as I discuss Jodie herself, as well as Chris Chibnall's soon-to-be stewardship of the show, finally having a female Doctor in our midst (at least as far as the TV show is concerned!), fandom's myriad reactions to the casting news, lots of gender stuff, and, finally, just my own reaction to the news.

And as I said, this is basically a 'mini'-style episode, but again, as with previous 'mini episodes', its admittedly not particularly short in length (yes, despite the diminutive name status!) It's just how I currently differentiate such episodes from the 'regular' episodes, especially when taking a break from the regularly scheduled program. But that's all inside baseball. Or something.

Oh, and also from a production standpoint, this episode admittedly took a few weeks to edit with all my own recent Life Stuff slowing things down, so some things mentioned may be a bit dated here and here, but it's all good. I doubt it will impact anything, really!

Anyway, as always, glad to have you all here and please do enjoy the ride!

So, my episode reviewing 'Knock Knock' is finally here! And this time around I talk lots about everything from my experiences at the recent local Doctor Who convention 'Wholanta', to laying down a few delightful podcast recommendations, to some musing on the whole Race!Fail period of S3 and all that really great meta that come out of all of that WAY BACK on LiveJournal (remember that site?), to Jo Grant's grandson as the Iron Fist (!), and on to dark fairy tales and (mis)interpreting them, to British English spellings vs. American ones, and to some classical geeking about Dryads, all the way to musing a bit about this adventure as an episode of the reality show 'The Real World'. Phew!

So, I truly hope you will all join me for this episode and, as always, glad to have you all aboard. Do enjoy the ride!

Greetings Earthlings!

This is Narco, from the planet Vicodin. The human in charge of this podcast has just been released from false imprisonment, as we had originally believed it was impersonating our Grand Senator Krog Krog, but was in fact just incapacitated from a recent primitive human surgery.

This recording was found on its person and is -- as the human says -- several weeks out of date. We have given the recording back to the human as it does not seem to contain anything that is a threat to our race according to our analysts. Please accept our apologies for the delay in this transmission as we hope to maintain peace with your world.

May Vicodin sing in the seven sunsets and the Great Krog Krog prevail always!

So, my episode reviewing 'The Pilot' is finally here! Yes, there were some technical errors and issues (quite a few), as well as Life Stuff that got in the way, but I bested them and finally was able to pull it all together for you here today (albeit with a bit of a sore throat that makes my voice crack much like male puberty at times, but oh well, these things happen).

Anyway, so join me as I excitedly talk about our first proper introduction to Bill Potts, discuss shades of 'Shada', play around with some Jungian interpretations and other related chat about water and reflection imagery, empathize with young awkward queers, dance for disco androids, and try to contain my burning Professor fetish.

As always, glad to have you all aboard. Do enjoy the ride!

I'm back! Yes, another (unexpected) hiatus down and here I am again!

Yeah, as I say in my introduction, I've been really behind on podcasting these last few months due to dealing with some fairly heavy medical stuff, but, despite all that, I'm hoping to get back on the saddle and really determined to get this podcast whipped back into shape.

So, in the spirit of all of that, in this return episode, you'll find my belated review for the last Christmas special, 'The Return of Doctor Mysterio'. I just really wanted to get that one covered before my foray into S10 of the new series, so that I could feel 'caught up', per se. Now, I had honestly also hoped this episode would be out before the new Doctor Who episode aired (and recorded it before then, as you'll be able to tell when I talk about it coming up), but pesky technical issues and Life Stuff slowed things down a few days, so it is a teeny bit late (speaking of which, I had to use a temporary different recording set-up, so there were a few teeny sound issues, but probably not enough for anyone to really notice). Oh well.

Anyway, again in this episode is my long overdue review of the Christmas special, as well as talk about anything from my squee about the return of Rona Munro and the Mondasian Cybermen from the Classic series, to the upcoming Atlanta Doctor Who convention Wholanta, to Bill being our first incontrovertibly gay companion on the televised series (so, yeah, not including my beloved Izzy Sinclair from the DWM comics who was also a lesbian, of course), to my great love of the superhero and comics genre, to Nice Guys (tm) and Sexy Lamps, etc.

So, yeah, I hope you all will join me for my review and episode discussion. And, as always, glad to have you all aboard. Enjoy the ride!

Terminus Podcast -- Episode 23 -- Random Fandom Episode Generator: The Fires of Pompeii: Smoke. Chickens. Chaos.

Just on the tail end of a American Thanksgiving celebrations and chaos, here is the newest episode of 'Terminus', wherein I discuss the S4 story, 'The Fires of Pompeii'. All as a continuation, of course, of my ongoing 'Random Fandom Episode Generator' series.

Inside you'll find squee about regeneration-related anniversaries, Doctor Who on big screens in large dark rooms, Doctor and Donna shipping love, and lots and lots (possibly too much) of geeking about Classical Studies-type things.

Anyway, I hope you all will join me for my review and episode discussion. And, as always, glad to have you all aboard. Enjoy the ride!

Terminus Podcast -- Episode 22 – Bigger on the Inside: The Face of Evil: Edge of Sevateem

We are returned! We are here!

And on this episode of 'Terminus', I discuss Leela of the Sevateem's debut story 'The Face of Evil'. All as a continuation, of course, of my ongoing 'Bigger on the Inside' series about some of my favorite companion's first stories. This one is especially happy-making and sentimental for me, by the way, as Leela was actually my very first companion back in the day when I was young.

Also on this episode, you'll find some belated recommendations of Spooky Doctor Who stories from both the new and classic series for Halloween fun (I'd honestly hoped to have this out by Halloween, natch, but sadly it was not to be!), excitement about Dalek-related potential social gatherings, musings on the mysterious Janice Thorn, a bit of scratchy sore throat on my end, the Doctor as a Mountain Man, a manipulative and schizophrenic AI playing psychological games, hoarding tests FTW, and quite a bit of a meditation on eugenics.

This is probably the longest episode I've ever done, as I just found I had SO MUCH to talk about, so remember that the time stamps below are your friend to help you navigate through everything to make things easier for you. Still, I hope you all will join me for my review and episode discussion. And, as always, glad to have you all aboard. Enjoy the ride!

Terminus Podcast -- Episode 21 – Random Fandom Episode Generator: The Doctor's Wife: In the House

On this episode of 'Terminus', I discuss the 2011 love-letter-to-'Doctor Who'-story, 'The Doctor's Wife'.

Inside you'll find some Neil Gaiman love, some supporting and main cast love, some shipping love (mostly TARDIS/Doctor and Amy/Eleven, natch), some open communication love, and hell, even also some podcast love and some arguably-Royalist love.

This is one loved-up episode and its not even Valentine's Day! So, feel free to draw hearts around it. I know I sure will! <3

Terminus Podcast -- Episode 20 – Bigger on the Inside: Smith and Jones: Completely Mad

On this episode, my discussion is probably equal parts raves and equal parts rants (I'm not so good at math, but that sounds about right) and overall just A WHOLE LOTTA FEELS. Seriously, this is probably the most shiptastic episode I've ever done (Martha/Doctor is still sort of my OTP), so that shippy aspect could possibly put people off, but, hey, it's how I feel about the episode and Martha's tenure on the show, so I had to just go with it to be authentic. *shrug*

Anyway, please won't you join me as I squee about the long-lost 'Doctor Who Confidential' series and also about All Things Martha (because, really, Competency is Sexy!), get nostalgic about the old days of 'Doctor Who' on PBS in North America from my youth, pump my fist in the air for #TeamJulia (it'll make sense once you listen), rant kind of a lot about RTD-style 'Doctor Who' (I know, what a surprise!), and, finally, embarrass myself with a bonus fanmix-song I made ages ago and pulled from the dusty vault of yesteryear in honor of this episode.

So, yeah, enjoy the ride!

Terminus Podcast -- Episode 19 – Finest Exploding Restaurants: The Husbands of River Song

On this belated episode, I indulge in some Andrew Cartmel love, I lament a bit about my current state of Moffat-Hate-Fatigue, I feel far too many feels discussing 'Husbands of River Song', I rant a bit about the show's portrayal of Rose and her relationship with the Doctor (contrasting it with River and the Doctor's relationship, natch), and I even embarrass myself quite a bit by uncharacteristically tacking on some small boopers/outtakes at the end of the show (despite my perfectionist side screaming in protest!).

Terminus Podcast -- Episode 18 – Sad and Beautiful: End of S9 Review

I've long heard tales from other podcasters of 'cursed' episodes that have either been lost to time or were just vast struggles to get out. Yes, this episode had tons of stumbling blocks, almost too many to name, but its finally here (albeit about 2 months late!). I do hope that it is worth the wait!

Anyway, join me on this episode as I finally discuss the last three episodes of S9 -- 'Face the Raven', 'Heaven Sent', and 'Hell Bent' -- finally polishing off my thoughts on last year's Doctor Who stories. Terminus Podcast -- Episode 17 -- I'm Just a Bill: Random Fandom Musings

OMG, I'm back! Is anyone still out there? *crickets* Um, maybe not. Anyway, it's really good to be back, finally. I've had tons of Big Life Stuff pod-blocking me all year, but I think I'm now in a good place to get back aboard the good-ship Terminus. Admittedly I was a bit under the weather recording the episode, but I was just so determined to get a new episode done and dusted, I went forward with it anyway. Let it be known that many coughs were valiantly sacrificed on the cutting floor, though. So, that was definitely a challenge! Well, that and trying not to slip up and say 'Chinballs' instead of Chibnall, because REASONS.

Anyway, join me on this episode as I talk about my humble little podcast's plans for the year and then also my thoughts about the new companion (as)Bill, the 2017 Doctor Who television hiatus, Steven Moffat leaving as showrunner, and finally Chris Chibnall coming on board as showrunner in his stead. Just a quick update on the delay on the newest episode. Apologies as between the crazy-busy-ness of the holidays and a recent car accident that has left my hand/fingers injured, I've gotten quite behind on things.

I am working on getting the next episode out as soon as possible though. I am combining the last 3 episodes of the season ('Face the Raven' through 'Hell Bent') into one episode as they're essentially a trilogy anyway, plus I'll be doing a separate episode on 'The Husbands of River Song'.

Thanks so much for your patience, guys!

Terminus Podcast -- Episode 16 – Sleepyheads: Sleep No More

A little shorter of an episode than usual for me, but also one a bit on the political side of things this time around (yet again -- though hopefully this won't be a usual thing), here is my belated episode discussion of the recent Mark Gatiss story, 'Sleep No More'.

Inside you'll find some happy Jessica Jones gushing, some allusions to ancient rad vs. trad fandom debates, chat about transphobic microaggressions and internalized prejudice, and a wee bit of roller derby squeeing thrown in for good measure.

So, anyway, I hope you all will join me for my review and episode discussion. And, as always, glad to have you all aboard. Enjoy the ride!

Terminus Podcast -- Episode 15 – Pod People: The Zygon Invasion & The Zygon Inversion

Coming to you a bit later than I'd planned (bad head cold + some Jessica Jones bingeing is a deadly combination for this podcaster, apparently), here is my episode discussion of the recent Zygon 2-parter. This was definitely one of my more personal episodes and certainly most political (which is admittedly odd to me), but then since the story was very political itself, I suppose it was somewhat hard to avoid? Oh, and this was also recorded before the recent Paris attacks, so any similarities to such discussions are entirely coincidental.

In this episode, I discuss identity politics (especially when it comes to Osgood), Zygons in the closet (likely not what you think), the awesomeness that is Jenna Coleman and Peter Capaldi, and revisiting the classic 'Terror of the Zygons'. Also included is some Harry Sullivan love, random music interjections, gratuitous skating references, some podcasting shout-outs, and probably way more than you ever needed to know about how I punch my Queer Card. Also, many coughs were sacrificed to the cutting room floor, but I still managed to come off sounding quite a bit gravely again due to my sore throat.

So, anyway, I hope you all will join me for my review and discussion of both 'The Zygon Invasion' and 'The Zygon Inversion'. And, as always, glad to have you all aboard. Enjoy the ride!

Terminus Podcast -- Episode 14 – The Tide is High: The Girl Who Died and the Woman Who Lived

Herein I present a somewhat belated episode, wherein Clara completely steals the show for me, even with her little bit of screen-time in the second part, and, yeah, like a fool I'm just left making grabby hands at the screen for her. And also wherein I randomly have a bit of a go at RTD a few times during the show, which was admittedly not too pretty. I don't know, he just seemed to keep coming up like a bobbing apple or a floating witch (trying to relate things to Halloween with my awkward analogies, yo!) for some reason! I suppose that recording at 6:00 AM after being up all night brings out my...punch-drunk and ranting side, apparently? You've been warned!

Also, there's some bonus chat about polytheism, polyamory, and various other p-words, which, as I was trying a new mic set-up this time around, things all went a bit pear-shaped (another p-word!) and the plosive fixes were unfortunately needed in force, as well as a few other various technical glitches that managed to double (triple?) my usual editing time. Maybe it was all witch's curse? Sed Libera Nos a Malo! (I've obviously been watching too many Hammer Horror films recently).

Anyway, as with this episode, for the next episode I plan on reviewing the Zygon 2-parter together. That episode should hopefully drop by about a week after 'The Zygon Inversion' airs, if all goes to plan. So yeah, you guys subscribing to the Terminus RSS feed on iTunes (or any other fine podcatchers, of course!) might make things a bit easier to follow along, as my schedule has been a bit wonky as of late, as I try to catch up. But of course that's all up to you.

So, anyway, I hope you all will join me for my somewhat sloxicated review 'The Girl Who Died' and 'The Woman Who Lived'. And, as always, glad to have you all aboard. Enjoy the ride!

Terminus Podcast -- Episode 13 – May the Remorse Be With You: Before the Flood

So, I'm currently running about a week behind on my releases, so here's a rather belated chat from me about the recent Doctor Who episode 'Before the Flood', all coming at you from somewhere adrift in the Doctor's timeline (forgot to check the helmic regulator for more details than that!) . Yeah, methinks you guys subscribing to the Terminus RSS feed on iTunes (or any other fine podcatchers, of course!) might make things a bit easier to follow along, as my schedule has been a bit wonky as of late, but of course that's all up to you.

Oh, and relatedly, since my release dates aren't currently what I hoped for, due to Life Stuff, I'm combining my reviews for both 'The Girl Who Died' and the 'The Woman Who Lived' into ONE episode next time around, just to try to get all caught up and stuff. This may be how I attack future two-parters as well -- we shall see! WHO NOSE!

Also, I realized as I edited my somewhat rushed recording for this episode from earlier in the week, that I forgot to rate 'Before the Flood' in my actual podcast content! So, I'll give you this wee little spoiler (Avert your eyes, if need be!): I'm giving it a 4.5 out of 5. Looking back, that is the same score I gave for 'Under the Lake', as well, 0so I guess this two-parter ends up with a nice round score of 4.5 out of 5 for me. Excellent. (Er, I do hope you'll still listen even with knowing my score, though!)

So, anyway, I hope you all will join me as I review this super-shippy episode of Doctor Who. And, as always, glad to have you all aboard. Enjoy the ride!

Terminus Podcast -- Episode 12 – Here Comes The Drum: Under the Lake

Long podcast episode is long. And late. But them's the breaks during a confluence of technical issues and illness, I suppose? Still, it's finally here, nonetheless!

Now, full disclosure, this episode was actually recorded before the second part 'Before the Flood'' aired, so obviously some of my speculation and predictions didn't quite turn out to come true, of course, but, hey, some of them did! You can even play Nicole-is-right-or-wrong Bingo, if you'd like -- though I don't have any pre-made Bingo cards for the occasion, unfortunately!

Anyway, I hope you all will join me on this episode, as I gush about the newest episode of Doctor Who. And, as always, glad to have you all aboard. Enjoy the ride!

Terminus Podcast -- Episode 11 – Sunglasses at Night: The Witch's Familiar

Despite some trials with illness and internet issues (curses, Mercury Retrograde!), this intrepid podcaster has finally prevailed and so thus, this episode is finally done and dusted and ready for your consumption. BUILD HIGH FOR HAPPINESS! Oh, wait...that's another story.

Anyway, within you will find my discussion of the conclusion of the S8 opening story, "The Witch's Familiar". Admittedly, I get a bit punch-drunk and somewhat naughty at points (woo, cold medicine!), so the listen might be entertaining or even frightening by some of your standards, but I hope you enjoy it nonetheless.

So, yeah, I hope you all will join me on this episode, as I gush about our newest exciting episode of Doctor Who. And, as always, glad to have you all aboard. Enjoy the ride!

Terminus Podcast -- Episode 10 – He's A Magic Man: The Magician's Apprentice

A little later than I anticipated -- still getting used to fitting in all the podcast work all by my lonesome! -- but here is my discussion of the S8 opening story, "The Magician's Apprentice"! Of course, how this story is going to end is the grand mystery of the hour, but that's cool, I still found there was more enough to talk about within part one (and what a part one it was!).

I'm back to the full-style episode format for now, along with the return of my old friend, Happy Fandom Time (which there is so much to be happy about in the Whoniverse these days -- it was hard to contain myself!). My voice is admittedly still a bit gravelly (though I did take care to edit out any coughs), but I think everything is a-ok.

Anyway, join me on this episode as I gush about our newest episode of Doctor Who. And, as always, glad to have you all aboard. Enjoy the ride!

Terminus Podcast -- Mini Episode 2 – The Promised Land: Doctor Who S8 Overview

Finally, here's my belated thoughts on Series 8 and the incumbent Twelfth Doctor, which are admittedly -- spoiler! -- a full-on love fest. This was recorded the next day after I recorded my previous episode about the 10th anniversary of New!Who, so I apologize that my voice was still a bit crackly from getting over that sore throat, but I think it sounds basically all right (besides didn't a lot of classic Hollywood sirens have raspy voices? Um... not that I'm a classic Hollywood siren in any sense!).

Again, this is a 'mini-episode' of sorts, and again, its admittedly not that short despite the diminutive episode status, but as I said before, I just wanted to have a breather to rework the schedule going forward, so I did this bonus-style episode. After this, Series 9 is starting up and I'm planning on reviewing those stories as they come out and then, gods willing, hopefully this Podcast-Train will no longer be derailed (also, fingers crossed that there's no homicidal ancient soldier-mummy systematically killing everyone on said Podcast-Train, by the way, because that would just be very, very awkward). Choo choo!

Anyway, join me on this episode as I gush about series 8 of Doctor Who, including extolling the virtues of PCap's lovely eyebrows and Jenna's smashing flapper dress. And, as always, glad to have you all aboard. Enjoy the ride!

IT'S ALIVE! Galvanizing lightning has struck, the stars have aligned, the hecatomb of Daleks sacrificed, and despite recording with a bit of a scratchy-and-sore throat, a new episode is now in the can! It's debatable if it is a 'proper' episode, I suppose, as the format is a bit different from usual, so I've decided to just call it a 'mini-episode' (though admittedly, its not very short or anything). I'm just now trying to get back on the horse and rework the recording schedule going forward, since so much has happened between this episode and the last one. SO MUCH!

Either way, I'm back now, giving this another go, with a chat about the 10th Anniversary of the new series and a look back at the episode that started it all, 'Rose'. I also have some new station idents from Andrew Cartmel and Sylvester McCoy to debut as a little bonus, because, well, they make me super-happy!

Anyway, many, many apologies for the extraordinarily long wait, but also many thank-yous to those who've been listening all this time and cheering me on to return to my podcast again. Join me on this episode as I chat about ten years of the new series of Doctor Who and also the episode Rose, the latter of which I'm not very nice about, to be honest, so you've been warned!

And, as always, glad to have you aboard. Enjoy the ride!

So, after about six months of unintended hiatus (!), the ninth episode of 'Terminus' is now finally finished and available for you! So, life sort of got on top of me during that time, derailing me completely and utterly, but I'm back to give things another go with a belated review of the 50th anniversary story, 'The Day of the Doctor' (I've postponed the promised 'Silver Nemesis' review episode for later, since I'm shuffling my schedule around a bit to accommodate the hiatus).

Anyway, many apologies for the wait and many thank-yous to those who've been listening all this time and cheering me on to return to my podcast again. Hopefully, things will balance out soon again on this end and I can bring you more content, more frequently.

Anyway, as I said above, join me on this episode as I chat about 'The Day of the Doctor' and even get a bit saucy and naughty at times, but that's what recording at 3:00 AM will do for you. I hope no one minds too much, but I thought I'd give a warning, nonetheless.

And, as always, glad to have you aboard. Enjoy the ride!

Terminus Podcast -- Episode 8: The Episode of Rassilon: The Five Doctors

So, after a month of waiting, the eighth episode of 'Terminus' is now finally finished and available for you! Many, many apologies, of course, but now that I'm finally past all the travel and the consequent illness (the derby tournament equivalent of con crud, methinks), I'm hoping I can start to get things back on track (I've had to juggle my schedule a bit though, so I'll be doing more anniversary episodes after the 50th!). Anyway, I'm hoping just after I post this to record the next episode about 'The Silver Nemesis', though it might be out after the 50th special at this rate (which I will also be doing an episode on, of course -- don't worry!). Oh, and being as I recorded this a month ago, some of the news-y, 'Happy Fandom Time' stuff is a bit dated, so sorry about that! *embarrassed*

Anyway, join me on this episode as I chat about 'The Five Doctors'. Also I chat about the new Second Doctor episodes found (yes, this episode was recorded that long ago!), the 'Day of the Doctor' teaser trailer, some local 'Day of the Doctor' celebratory stuff, and other things making me happy in fandom right now. Oh, and apparently every time I refer to the Big Finish audio 'An Earthly Child' in this episode, I sound like I'm saying 'Unearthly Child', which is a bit funny. Oops! Sorry about that! I hope I don't confuse you too-too much!

So, anyway, as always, glad to have you aboard and enjoy the ride!

Terminus Podcast -- Episode 7: Omega's Ball Pit of Doom: The Three Doctors

After fighting with some technical issues and going on travels around the Southeastern US, I'm finally back with the newest episode of Terminus! On this seventh episode of Terminus, join me as I chat about the serial 'The Three Doctors', unofficially the celebratory story for the 10th anniversary of 'Doctor Who'. I also chat about things like the new minisodes released with the Series 7 boxset, various trailers that have me excited, some 'Day of the Doctor' miscellany, etc. Also, some exciting news is that this is the first episode under the umbrella of the Earth Station One Network, which my podcast is now a proud member of! Hooray! Terminus Podcast -- Episode 6: Trust Me, I'm Not a Doctor: Spin-offs in the Whoniverse, Pt 1

Hoorah! Yes, the newest episode is finally here! So, on this sixth episode of the Terminus podcast (released during the two days I'm actually at home and not traveling during these two weeks!), join me as I chat about some of the more *obscure* Doctor Who spin-offs (and try and not stumble over saying 'BBV' many, many times). This time around I'm focusing on 'P.R.O.B.E.', 'The Stranger', 'The Airzone Solution', and 'Downtime', but never fear, there are more episodes on spin-offs planned for the future! *crickets* Yeah, not sure this episode has much of a target audience! Anyway, I also talk about geeking out with Andrew Cartmel on Twitter, Target books, and 50th Anniversary miscellany (specifically some bits about the BFI screenings and the Master's new anniversary-edition fob watch). Oh, and I'm *almost* back on schedule with scheduled release dates (squeezing in recording and editing between all my recent travel has proved an interesting challenge), so that is made of awesome! Until then, be sure to subscribe to the podcast either on iTunes, Stitcher, or just the RSS feed to keep up with the newest episodes as they're released. And, as always, enjoy the ride!

Terminus Podcast -- Episode 5: Love and War: the Eighth Doctor, the Time War, and a Forgotten Doctor

On this also-a-bit-late fifth episode of the Terminus podcast, join me as I chat about how I define queer for myself, the Eighth Doctor television movie, thoughts about what we currently know about the Last Great Time War (possibly soon to be Jossed by the upcoming 50th anniversary special!), and the Atlanta-based fan series 'The Forgotten Doctor'. Also I squee (yes, I said squee) about things like Peter Capaldi (likely?) keeping his Scottish accent for his role as the Doctor, Doctor Puppet, the TARDIS on Google Maps, and the Doctor as Mr. Potato Head. Oh, and I thought the last episode was super-long, but this one takes the cake -- wow! I thought about editing it down a bit, but I decided to leave in everything, even if it gets a bit rambly, silly (did I really say 'WTF?' more than once? The things we do to keep it family-friendly), and littered with unfortunate poppy plosives at times. This should hopefully be the last of the late episodes (at least for a while) as I'm getting things back on schedule now. Anyway, enjoy the ride!

Terminus Podcast -- Episode 4: In Defense Of + Greetings to Our New Scottish Overlord!

On this super-duper-late fourth episode of the Terminus podcast, join me as I chat about the recent reveal of who will be the next Doctor (on which there's lots of geeking and cheering from me, of course!) and how one of my favorite classic Doctors is coming to a convention near me next year (and I'll hopefully get to meet him for the first time!). Of course, as promised, there's also the main 'In Defense Of' segments, where I come to the defense of several characters and other bits of fandom I think are often ridiculed unfairly. Admittedly, I sadly didn't have the nicest things to say about Rose Tyler a few times in the episode and while I know she's a bit of a sacred cow in fandom, I feel that many of the characters I talked about were often sacrificed at her altar and put up against her in comparison by the show. So, I argue how those comparisons failed for me. I'm honestly hoping I don't lose any listeners over that, because I know YMMV and everyone gets something different out of different characters, but at the same time, I had to be honest with my opinions. Anyway, this is the longest episode I've done so far, which probably made the timing of it even worse as its running so late due to Life Stuff (I sincerely hope to be back on schedule going forward though). So, anyway, enjoy the ride -- its a bumpy one this month!

Terminus Podcast -- Episode 3: Unlimited Rice Pudding: Celebrating the Seventh Doctor's Era

On the third episode of the Terminus podcast, join me as I chat about the Seventh Doctor. I ramble on about my feelings regarding his character and story arc, as well as thoughts on his companions, my favorite serials of his, and, of course, the Cartmel Masterplan! Plus, there's a longer than usual Happy-Fandom-Time-cum-News segment (because there's just far too much to be excited about in fandom these days)!  Also, this is a bit of an 'under the weather episode', with me wincing from fighting a back injury (from fighting aliens, of course! Okay...maybe not), as well as donning a rather husky, gravelly voice due to a very sore throat (most of the coughs were edited out, but you'll get treated to the occasional wheeze! FUN TIMES!). So, enjoy the ride!

Terminus Podcast -- Episode 2: The Rise and Fall of the Eleventh Doctor

On the second episode of the Terminus podcast, join me as I chat about the Eleventh Doctor and my feelings about his character and story arc so far. I also discuss my thoughts on his impending regeneration and there's the intro of the newest reoccurring show component -- Happy Fandom Time! -- where I discuss what I'm currently geeking about in the world of Doctor Who. Along the way, there's also bonus sound issues I had to contend with and edit as best as possible (a plethora of clipped words and distortion, oh my!), my cat Fender making loud sounds in the background from the next room (she apparently wanted her own opinions of the Doctor known -- does anyone speak Cat?), and the occasional rant about the Tenth Doctor era (which, wow, not sure I was so ranty-pants that night -- I do like him, I swear!). Enjoy the ride (it is a bumpier one this time, but the seatbelts are quite comfy)!
